iTunes has taken over my computer

Hi there,

I just installed itunes on my windows 7 laptop and all the icons on my applications have been replaced with the itunes icon and evrey time I open them it opens up iTunes instead of the application i selected, im not sure what to do i've never seen or heard of this problem before. the only way to undo this problem is to uninstall iTunes but as soon as i install it again it does the same thing.
