I opened an email about a district court hearing on my iPhone. Because it sounded strange and the attachment showed blank, I figured the attachment had to be malware. Is it possible that my iPhone ended up being infected? I run iOS 7.1.2.

As long as your phone has not been jailbroken, your phone can't be infected:
To make sure that the link is also deleted from your browser, go to Settings/Safari and tap on "Clear Cookies and Data"
This undoubtedly was malware, but it would have been Windows malware. It could not have affected your iPhone in any way.
