How can I change my registered email address?

My ARD is registered to an old email address. Is there any way for me to change the email address that ARD is registered to so I can update it using Software Update? It refuses to update because I have to login with my Apple ID and ARD is not tied to it. It used to always work and update fine until the latest OSX 10.10 where even ARD is assigned to an email address.
