He said he's already had it serviced by an unauthorized person (or at least that's what I interpreted).

Hopefully, that's not the case.

OP, if you have already opened the iPhone, or anyone else has opened it, then you no longer have any warranty support from Apple.

himself and missed/ignored that it was already repaired once by unauthorized

service provider.

Take the iPhone back to whoever did the original repair and have them

Agreed. I did give the OP a response part of which might have led him to

expect something he was not entitled to due to the incorrect information,

and wanted to correct that. I appreciated your heads-up.
