Replaced Macbook Pro with iMac need to install iTunes library from the exyernal drive with a firewire connection. There are no firewire connections on the iMac. Do I use an adapter ?

Trying to transfer iTunes from external drive with firewire connection to iMac with USB for migration Assistant. Any ideas

The new Mac, as you've discovered, don't have FireWire but they do have Thunderbolt. Apple makes a Thunderbolt->FireWire dongle which, by the way, has a FW800 so if your drive is FW400 you'll need a FW400-FW800 cable or a FW400->FW800 dongle.
