how to move photos from iphone6 to laptop

I just purchased an iPhone6, ios 8.1.3.

I have taken many photos, which I want to move from the phone to my laptop. How do I do this?

I was able to move some of my photos over. However, on my phone, there's still photos in 'camera roll' and 'my photo stream' - what are these? A lot of these on the same ones I just moved over to my laptop. I'm confused...
