iPad or MacBook Air

Greetings,

I'm currently a college student, moving to university for law degree in a twinkling. But i'm being bothered whether to buy and iPad or MacBook Air. If i were to get a MacBook Air, i would have two laptops as i'm using a MacBook Pro now. Reasons of me not wanting to use my MacBook Pro are it is too heavy and too bulky. But i'm afraid iPad wouldn't provide a friendly platform to handle all my documents and note as there will be lots of notes to be jotted down.
