Why aren't my whatsapp messages not showing up on my lockscreen's notification tab?

MY whatsapp usually comes up on the locked noticiation tab but as of today I noticed that only when I select the option to show on lock screen the messages show on the locked notifications tab, together with it popping up when he screen is off. I don't oike this option but liked that I could have viewed it from the tab only. What happened??
