Safari will not load images or content to open tabs

Safari 8 browser seems to stall when opening tabs. It will not display images, or content on the pages of open tabs. Infact It gives the error message : Application not responding. I have had to force quit and reboot the browser, but it continues to get stuck. I have performed all of the necessary updates, but no change. I can run other applications and browsers like chrome. I have restarted my computer but that does not change anything either. HELP!
