how to open the iPhone 6 calendar

I just bought my first iPhone. It's the iPhone 6. I'll probably have lots of problems figuring it out but this is the first problem…the calendar that came installed on the phone. When I click on the icon the "edit" page opens up. I can't get any further than this. How do I actually see the calendar with all the dates on it?
