iMac mid 2010 3.6GHz intel core i3; mem. 4 GB; OS X 10.9.5 ceased pair-ing with its wireless alum. keyboard. Help?

iMac mid 2010, 3.6GHz intel core i3; mem. 4 GB; OS X 10.9.5 ceased allowing its wireless alum. keyboard to tell it to print letters on page. I'm using the "qwerty" keyboard image from the MenuBar. Bluetooth is functional; screen states keyboard connected. Looking at the hardware info' for Bluetooth Devices (Paired, Configured, etc): Apple Wireless Keyboard:

Major Type: Keyboard; Minor Type: Peripheral; Svcs: Apple Wireless Keyboard; Paired: Yes; Configured: Yes ; Connected: Yes; Manu.: Apple; Battery Level: 100%; Firmware Version: 0x0050; Vendor ID: 0x05AC; Product ID: 0x0239; Class of Device: 0x05 0x10 0x2540; AFH: On; AFH Map: FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF7F; RSSI: -43; Role: Master; Host Connectable: Yes; EDR Supported: NO; eSCO Supported: NO; SSP Supported: NO . ¿Significant? I don't know; hopefully you do.

Several times I've followed directions in my iMac Guide without any change occurring, save the passage of time, a few more grey hairs. Help? My thanks.

My apologies. Needed to use own info' in above statement. From Apple iMac -System Info' (under apple - About this Mac) keyboard was paired & connected. Yet pressing keys got no response on screen!! Did follow directions I found:

Bluetooth: How to set up your Apple Wireless Keyboard - Apple Support

There's another site (shorter version) that uses just code info' & stresses hitting return.

Couldn't believe it; can now press keys of keyboard & get get print on screen. There's a clackety sound with ea. pressed key; I turn off sound. (I've tried sugg. ans. re: keys & sound - no luck.)

Couldn't help repeatedly noticing in Bluetooth/Keyboard info' I provided:

EDR Supported: NO; eSCO Supported: NO; SSP Supported: NO

Please check your info'.

This could very well be software problem! Looking forward to replies about this.
