The "recent folders" under "Go" in the finder show items from about 3 weeks ago.

When I logged onto my computer today the "recent folders" under "Go" in the finder show items from about 3 weeks ago. The "recent folders" are items that are on a flash drive so I can't figure out why they are listed. I clicked on some of my folders to see if they would show up on the list, and they did (the other list disappeared), so it seems to be working fine. Is there a reason this could happen or does someone have to view the folders for them to show up in the recent folders list?

Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but my computer background was changed as well when I logged in.
