error 7

Trying to download new version of Itunes and keep getting error 7. Have uninstalled and reinstalled both Itunes and Quicktime a few times with no success. Worried about all my music now.

If you receive an "error 7" when trying to update or reinstall iTunes, try the troubleshooting method outlined in this support document:

This article offers some helpful suggestions, like making sure you're logged in to your computer as an administrator, updating Windows, repairing your iTunes installation, and disabling conflicting software.


Your music shouldn't be affected by this process, although you may want to back up your iTunes library by copying it to an external hard drive. See the "Copy the iTunes folder to your external drive" section in this article for some tips:
