I am incredibly stupid, evidently.. I was just playing with my lighter and I held it against the screen for maybe 2 seconds when it occurred to me that I'm probably going to destroy it.. When I removed it, I found a yellow blob of around half a cm in diameter and the glass seemed to have shattered slightly around it.
What would I need to replace in order to remove this?

You cannot replace it, IMHO. Take it in to an Apple store for options.

Take it to the Apple Store and after they stop laughing they will tell you how much it is going to cost to repair it.
For starters the screen which is going to cost.
If you lucky that might be all but only Apple can say once they examine it.

Okay, so I'm not sure if this will help you guys at all, but I can still kind of see stuff under the weird blob, does that mean it's just the screen that's damaged?
At this stage all you can do is take it to Apple for a repair estimate, until then this is all just guessing.
