Recording Fingerpicking Guitar to GarageBand (with manuscript printout)

Well...it would be GREAT if I could get the notes printed out as I play, but I'm pretty sure that's only with the on board instruments. If I can do that, though...I really would like to find out how.
Regardless; I'd love to record my solo guitar work (with some vocals). Can anyone tell me what I need to hook up my acoustic (with a pickup) to my iMac G4 to get it onto GarageBand?

If it has an active pickup (uses a battery), just plug it in

I have a B-Band, active preamp pickup which is powered by a battery.

I know this will sound dense; but I'll need some kind of adaptor to get my 1/4 inch jack converted to USB size (so I can plug it into the computer), won't I? Where would I get that?

I'm guessing you have a early imac G4 without a line-in. If this is the case you'll need some type of interface.

Check out Griffin´s iMic ( http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/imic/) or try the Samson USB mic. I am sure you´ll get a much better acoustic guitar sound if you use a condenser microphone instead of the B-Band.

I think Apple Store sells both the iMic and the Samson mic.

Not at all, if you're new to this stuph, it can be confusing.

Correct. This is the type of Adaptor you need.

(Though you'd need to be buying something else from Amazon to make this one cost effective).

I bought this G4 when the dome iMacs with the moveable screen first came out. Not sure whether that has a line in or not? If not, can you tell me what I'm looking for?

If there are two 1/8" jacks, one is for headphones, and the other is the Line-In

There were a couple of generation of the flat pannel imac. If yours was built before Febuary of 2003 they don't have a line in. If you don't see a line-in port you probably don't have one.

Hey, guys. Thanks for all the help.
My Mac doesn't have the input. I'm gonna spring for the Fasttrack Pro. Want the phantom power for my condensor mic and outboard effects. I'll try their Ableton Live Lite 5 at first (comes with the unit) and then, maybe get GarageBand if I'm not happy with that. Any of you compared those 2?
