Can't log into Messages with Google Talk password

My Messages app recently stopped working. When I try to login, I get a popup that says my talk.google.com password is incorrect. I've tried my google password, a google generated app password, my apple id password, and nothing works. I know I'm entering them correctly so I don't know how to fix this.
