Sustain Pedal Not Working... why?

I'm sure this is an idiot question but I can't seem to solve it.

MacBook Pro 13" os10.7.5

Mainstage 2.1.3

M-Audio Keystation 88es (also tried a 49es) connected via USB cable

Several different sustain pedals including an M-Audio brand

No sustain pedal will work and I can't seem to set a mapping control to make it work. The keys play fine and octave shift works as well.
