How to upgrade a 2nd generation AppleTV to 3rd generation

I have a 2nd generation Apple TV and am thinking about upgrading it to new 3rd generation AppleTV. I have PAID App subscriptions on my current AppleTV and wonder if they have to be setup all over again for a new 3rd generation AppleTV, either with the same account info or all new accounts. (I may hold out for a new AppleTV rumored to come out sometime in 2015.)
