Apple TV music streaming

MI my Apple TV works fine but I have never managed to get past the apple is trying to stream you music from iTunes page what am I doing wrong I have home sharing ect that's all fine.

iPad, iOS 7

shared itunes lib needs to be enabled in itunes on the computer, itunes needs to be running

the ports needs to be allowed by the computer firewall and the wifi router TCP and UDP ports used by Apple software products - Apple Support

sso I have to have my home pouter on not my iPad? As I rarely use that now? Is this just a one off or everytime I want to listen to my music ?

Home sharing is for accessing your computers iTunes library, it needs to be on every time. If you want to have your library in the cloud, without the need of your computer, subscribe to iTunes Match.
