Startup stops with progress bar half-way

I installed Yosemite on my wife's MacBook Pro (13", 2012) last weekend. Everything was fine, and the computer was used briefly this week with no problems, as far as I know. However, on start-up today the progress bar stops just short of halfway through with no further action or messages forthcoming. After forcing a shutdown and restarting, the same thing happens; at the time of writing, it's still stuck at this point after being left for over 30 mins.

Is something trying to update/install? Otherwise, any ideas welcome...

Hi,

Did you try to start in safe mode ? (By pressing Shift key at start)

If it's not working i advise you to reinstall your system, update can failed sometimes

So if safe mode doesn't work just boot your computer by pressing Cmd + R key and choose reinstall OS X

I hope that help you
