You can connect them together with an ethernet cable.
And will they recognize each others files so I can move back and forth. ?
Yes. When you login. I use that all the time to move files between my Mac Pro and MacBook Pro all the time.
Any advantage of using cable or Blue Tooth sharing
Since the Macs will not connect using BlueTooth that make doing it with a cable a whole lot better.
Besides even if they did connect the BlueTooth would be far slower transferring data.
Another question Please.
I did get them both sharing in system preferences and all worked out ok but would it be faster/better if I hooked up ethernet cable.
Yes
