I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks. I notice that "itunesHelper" is still in my login items with kind "unknown" and a warning triangle in it saying can't be found. Is this left over from SL and should be deleted? Will iTunes put it back if need me if that is so?

What version of iTunes are you using? It sounds like it is leftover from Snow Leopard.
Upgraded from SL 10.6.8 with iTunes 11.4 to Mavericks 10.9.5 and iTunes 12x (whatever the latest is).
Should I remove the iTunes in login startup that is there? I'm assuming it will be re-added if iTunes needs it.
It isn't doing any good if it can't be found, so I'd remove it, and then launch iTunes to see if it will open. If necessary, restart and see if it is added.
