I just installed a second HHD in my Macbook Pro 17" and it keeps disconnecting when I am trying to write files to it. It is brand new 2TB drive format in the Mac. I can see it but it keeps disconnecting 😟

Was the cable replaced as part of the second HDD installation?
Could be there is a break in the cable, or a weak connection.
Was this a 'drive doubler' kind of deal where the optical drive
was removed and a second HDD or SSD could reside there?
You may have to take the unit apart again. Some troubleshooting
the effects is recommended, to see what else may appear in the
system logs and if there is any other evidence. I suspect a cable.

Thanks for the input. This was a add on kit to replace the optic drive. There seems to be a power issue within the 17" and the optic drive could not deliver the power for the new HDD. I swapped the SSD drive in the factory location to the optical drive location and put the HDD in the factory location and everything seems to be working perfect now. Thank god 🙂
