Preview resize vs export

I use my pictures in fcpx, and the preview settings will be the sharing settings. I read that "No NLE is going to resize photos as good as a dedicate photo editor so even though you can drop a large photo on the timeline, it doesn't mean that you should." So how about setting preview in aperture to desired resolution, and them just drag pictures in to fcpx. Will that give good quality resized pictures?
