Apple TV frozen on last video rental, lights flash when remote pressed, but no change on screen.
Reverts to slideshow after time out.
Tries Down-Menu reset, but does not fix.
Apple TV does not mount as device via micro USB in iTunes. (Yosemite)

When doing a restore make sure you are following the steps exactly (disconnect all cables, connect micro usb, if using a 3rd gen ATV reconnect power)
Connect directly to computer, not a keyboard port or usb hub. Try a different cable

Thanks, that solved it, the Support page didn't mention adding the power cable for AppleTV 3
