garageband stuck open and I can't restart computer

garageband wont open, but also it shows up on the force quit list, and wont force quit. computer will not restart until i force quit the garageband which i cant force quit. should i drop my imac out of the 20th floor window? that oughta turn it off

Try the Terminal to quit GarageBand.

Open a Terminal window (the Terminal application is in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder).

Copy and paste this line into the Terminal:

killall GarageBand -SIGKILL

This will send the Kill signal to GarageBand, a signal that cannot be ignored by the Application. But the current project will not be saved.

If GarageBand cannot be quit normally, you may need to Force Quit the application via the Apple Menu -> Force Quit.
