how to setup intranet using iWeb

Hi,

I have a MacBook Pro (OSX10.10.2), wireless network, and various iDevices.

I want to use iWeb to design some pages for an intranet only - with the pages hosted from my Macbook and shared to the iPads when connected to my local wireless network at home.

I know how to design the pages - I just can't work out how to set up the intranet to share the site to the other devices. I do not want to share it to the internet - only for internal use.

My laptop has a fixed IP address of 192.168.1.3. I have tried turning on Internet Sharing in the Sharing window of System Preferences - but I still cannot see the page if I type in the url of 192.168.1.3/*username*/sites/ even though this is where I have told iWeb to send the site to this file location.

Can someone please help me?

With or without iWeb, you can use the built-in webserver to host any website.

There are 2 locations where you can publish.

/Library/WebServer/Documents/

The URL will be :

http://localhost/

And the Sites folder in the Home directory.

The URL wil be :

http://localhost/~username/

Instead of localhost, you can use the computername : http://computername.local

Add file- and foldernames to show a specific webpage.

Later versions of OS X have websharing disabled in the Sytempreference. To enable it, read this :
