Logic Pro CPU spikes on both Mavericks and Yosemite

H, guys.

After updating my laptop (early-2011 MBP) with 16GB plus a 1TB SSD, I seem to be getting huge CPU spikes on really big projects that use a lot of streaming Contact samples, etc. I run all my samples from an external eSATA 7200 hard drive. No matter what version of OS X I'm running, I always get these issues. Even sometimes, activity from the hard drive without even playing a note will put a spike on the CPU meter. Could you please help me out with this?
