I just purchased an iPod mini. There is a horizontal line dead center of screen I cannot figure out how to remove. has anyone else experienced the same and/or know of a resolution to remove it?

Take a screen shot and see if it appears in that. You may need to upload it to a computer to be sure when you view it. If the line does not appear in the picture when viewed on something other than the iPad, then it is a screen issue. You can try resetting the device, but I would recommend making an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store to have the hardware looked at.
