The movie downloads, and will play on my iMac, but using Airplay to Apple TV, I get a message "The selected movie won’t play on one of your connected displays." I also cannot get my iPad to connect to Apple TV via Airplay. I have all the latest software installed on everything. I can mirror my computer to Apple TV, no problem from the computer, but not the movie. Any ideas?

Vazandrew, Yes, it is a rental from the iTunes store. I had downloaded it on my computer and then decided to use Airplay to stream to Apple TV when I had the message appear "The selected movie won’t play on one of your connected displays." Today, I simply fired up the Apple TV and was able to find "Rentals" and there it was. But, shouldn't I be able to use the Airplay to stream the movie directly?
No, rentals cannot be streamed via airplay, only home sharing. This is due to the licensing agreement with the studios.

This is actually wrong, you can stream a rental to your Apple TV from your computer once it’s fully downloaded. About renting movies from the iTunes Store - Apple Support
You are responding to a thread from a year ago. Streaming a rental via airplay was not possible at that time.
