iMac 2013, 2,7 ghz Yosemite - very slow

Hello,

I hope somebody can help me. My iMac is extremely slow in starting up and starting programs.

I already tried to improve through programs like "clean my mac", "avast security", soft start of iMac. All with little improvement.

Get rid of Avast and CleanMyMac as per developers instructions.

Removing the software noted above should make a huge difference. You have 8GB of ram and while that's "enough" when speaking of ram more is always better. Open Activity Monitor and let it run while you use your computer, not for a few minutes but really use it, and see what AM reports about memory pressure. How to use Activity Monitor - Apple Support
