Problem manually accessing Time Machine

I’ve recently had a few problems with my iMac that has involved 2 calls to the help desk and 2 complete reinstalls. Never got the root cause but hey its sorted now!!

However two big problems during the calls were accessing the data on my time machine via Finder

So I deleted the data off the time machine and done a hard reset. All good. Reset, back up data – again all good.

Yet when I go into Finder I can only see the time machine under the ‘shared’ heading ‘Peter’s Airport Time Capsule’ when I click on this I get ‘Data’ and one click on this I get ‘Peter’s iMac.tmp.sparesbundle’ and that’s the end of the line so to speak.

In the past I have carried on clicking and got to my data etc

The reason (I was told by the Apple tech) for this was so I could do a manual drag and drop in case whatever caused the corruption came back

So [finally] my question is why can’t I see my data beyond the sparsebundle?

Hope this make sense and thanks for any help

Regards

Pete
