Changed my password to iCloud and everything is gone.

Hello everyone.

I recently changed my email for my apple id and my iCloud. I changed it on my phone, so i had to do the same with my Mac. As soon as I did, all of my 1,000's of photos are gone. Is there any way to get those photos back? Please help!!

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Good Morning jessicamc1,

The resource below will explain how to change the email address that you use for your iCloud account. If you follow these steps, all of the data that was in your original iCloud account should still be accessible.

Change your Apple ID - Apple Support
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202667

Sign in with a different Apple ID on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203983

If, after following these steps, you are still not able to see your iCloud data, reply back to this post and we'll do our best to help.

Cheers,

- Judy

Have your photos been in My Photo Stream on your Mac?

My Photo Stream does not store the photos permanently. If you reset it by signing out of iCloud and signing back in, My Photo Stream will download again, what is currently in iCloud, and that will be only the last 30 days, because iCloud will keep only the 30 days of photos, up to 1000 photos.

If your photos are older than 30 days, iCloud will probably no longer have the photos.

Hi jessicamc1,

Changing the name of the Apple ID (which is the email address) should not affect the contents of the account.

If you had Photo Stream enabled on your Mac, every month the Photo Stream contents would have been automatically downloaded to iPhoto or Aperture on your computer.

Have you checked to see if they are there?

If you contact our technical support, with your permission, they will have the ability access your iCloud account and delve into this issue further for you.
