I installed OSX Yosemite on my MacBook Pro 13" 2009 and now, it takes much longer to start up and every time Microsoft Excel spreadsheet appears

I installed OSX Yosemite on my 2009 MacBook Pro 13" model and now it takes so much longer to start up and when it does, my Microsoft Excel starts up also.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.0.x)
