HELP!!! Yesterday all my songs were on my iPod, now they're gone!!

HELP!!! Yesterday all my songs were on my iPod, now they're gone!! Only my purchased songs show up on my iPod, however ALL of my songs show up in the "on my device" section in iTunes. However, I can't play them, I get the '!' symbol next to them. I assume my songs are still there if they show up in the on my device section, but i don't know why I suddenly getting the '!" symbol next to all of them, and why they don't show up on my iPod. I'm afraid to try and sync my iPod because I'm afraid it'll erase all my songs. I have over 3,000 songs. I CAN'T loose them, somebody PLEASE help!!!! I have an iPod touch, and a Mac OSX computer.

Thank you,

Lindsey

The ! means that the actual song files can't be found

Try:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Unsync/delete all music and resync

To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Manage Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
