Does my battery drain too fast or is it still ok?

Well, I've earned an used iPhone and its battery lasts for 5 hours of use, more or less. I think it's worn out, but once it's my first iPhone, I can't say for sure. Could someone please tell me if this is normal or if I should replace the battery?

Even a good battery can die within a few hours of use. It all depends on how the phone is being used. There is a battery replacement program for some iPhone 5's. Enter your serial number here and see if you qualify.

You can also go into setting > general > usage > battery usage. Let the list populate and it will show you which app is using the most battery usage.

If you do think you need a new battery then have it done at either an Apple store or an Authorized Apple Service Provider. There are no user serviceable parts in a iPhone.

5 hours seems a bit low but it depends on how much you've used your phone - someone who uses their phone heavily will wear the battery out more quickly than someone who uses theirs infrequently. Using cellular data drains the phone more quickly than using wifi. And the list can go on and on.

See if your iPhone qualifies for a replacement battery using the link pogster provided. If it doesn't, then read the article on battery drain as you may have an app stuck in the background that is causing the battery to drain more quickly than usual.
