I have a new ipad mini with ios 8.1.3. It will not stay connected to my wifi , when I try to reconnect, it won't recognize my password. I have to reconnect through itune restore. What are my options?

Are you absolutly sure that you are using the correct, current password?
You can try using: Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
