iTunes purchases greyed out on iPhone

This is is happening to almost all my iTunes store purchases on my iPhone! They're all there in iTunes on my Mac, but even syncing won't fix this problem. What can I do?!

iPhone 5, iOS 8.1.3, MacBook Air running Yosemite
