Synchronizing without losing songs on iPod

I imported a music cd into my iTunes library on my computer and it erased all of my existing songs (on the computer).

How do I synchronize iTunes with my iPod so I can upload the new songs from my computer (to iTunes) and download the new songs to my iPod without losing my existing songs (on either device). Manual doesn't seem to explain the process.

If you know where the songs are on the computer you can simply drag the folder that the songs are in onto the iTunes Library.

That will make iTunes locate the files and once they are onto your iTunes library you can go to the phone and select which content you want to sync over.
