Q: When I slide my voiceover button to the off position it returns to the on position.  How can I shut off voiceover?

How do I turn off the voice over function?

The easiest way is by using iTunes. Connect your phone to iTunes, then select your phone, then Summary->Options->Configure Accessibility. Turn off Voiceover there.

    OldGnome,

Thank you kindly for this advice.  I'm brand new to Apple products and it's a big change from using MSFT based stuff.

I was in fact trying to disable VoiceOver on my  IPad2 without any success.  Based on your advice, I downloaded ITunes to my

computer, (I wasn't aware one could do that), and followed the steps you recommended.

I no longer have to suffer with the obnoxious voice telling me things I don't want to know.

    Much appreciated.
