MacBook Pro is running extremely slow suddenly

All of a sudden my MacBook Pro has been running extremely slow. I am not sure what to do. It is a 13 inch, Mid 2012, 500gb HD, 8 gb Ram, processor is i5 (possibly i7)

Can't do anything on this computer, not even basic internet browsing without having this computer freeze up. I've restored the computer to factory settings so the hard drive is completely empty. Still having the same issues. Ran the apple hardware test (both short and extended) and came up with no issues, however there is a significant issue if I cannot complete basic tasks on the computer. The reason I think I might have an i7 processor is because on the "About this Mac" page it states i5, however the hardware tests says that i have an i7, so I am a bit confused.

This computer has had a lot of problems in the past, luckily resolved by applecare. Still have a few more months but I am unable to make my way to applestore mid semester.

What should I do?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)
