Hello.
I need to create some video's of me lecturing on a topic. I'm looking at some options for software and was wondering if FCX would be my best buy. Is it possible to have me speaking in a video while a powerpoint presentation plays in a different section of the screen.
I only have a 2011 macbook pro with like 2GB RAM, would this cause problems for me.

Yes That's also very odd. Are you sure it's 2 GB (check in About this Mac)? You have to go all the way back to 2008 when MBPs shipped with 2 GB.

Hi, Yeah i was mistaken. Its 4GB. I checked the spec and it does meet the minimum spec. So what do you think about using this for video creation as per original post. It's basically so i can make lectures on udemy.

Download the trial. Check out samples of tutorials and find one that appeals to you; spend at least an hour familiarizing yourself with the interface, workflow basics and terminology,
If you want to edit smoothly, 4 GB of RAM.isn't enough. Probably 8 GB is minimum for what you describe. Put your libraries on a fast external drive.. When you import media, when prompted choose leave files in place. Enjoy.

Your Mac came pre-installed with iMovie11, which offers a simple to use pic-in-pic effect, or cut-aways (to hide edits) ....
seems to me the first choice.
FCPX with 4GB is probably no fun.
Plus you should use an ext. hard drive, if you don't want to fry your Mac..... 😉
