Macy's says I can set up Apple Pay on their store card. The store card has no expiration date and I keep getting an error message "not a valid card". Called Macys but they say can be done. True?

Not sure what your point is. Again Macy's is giving you the wrong information or they (or you) are confused. Macy's is already set up to accept Apple Pay at their stores and they have been since the launch of Apple Pay a few months ago. I have used many times at Macy's with several of the supported credit card issuers including Citi and AMEX. Whether or not you can ADD a Macy's credit card to Apple Pay remains to be seen. The VISA card will most likely work (if implemented) but doubtful about the store card as that one does not use traditional credit card clearing processes.

If it is giving you an error then you cannot. The person giving you the information is mistaken. They probably got confused because Macy's does accept Apple Pay at their stores.
And, BTW a store card IS NOT a bank issued credit card>

My strong guess is your 'store card" is not a credit card at all, since it has no expiration date. Perhaps it's a Macy's loyalty card, which accumulates points of some sort when you make purchases. I don't know if Macy's offers such a loyalty card. But if it is, then you may be able to use it as a pass in Passbook as described here:

If instead you have a Macy's gift card (which would have cash value and no expiration date), then it could not possibly be used with Apple Pay.

A call to Macy's tech support dept. revealed that although they have the "readers" set up, they have not implemented the program yet. Neither the store cards or the Macy's Visa will work as of this date. So....even though Macy's is listed on the group accepting the card, they're not doing it yet. March 2, 2015
