VOIP

I have a MacBook Pro that's less than a year old running OSX Yosemite with these specs:

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013)

2.8 GHz Intel Core i7

8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Intel Iris 1536 MB


I'm having a lot of trouble with VOIP. I do mainly Google Hangouts and keep having problems with my audio. First my voice will turn robotic, then both the audio and microphone will stop working. I reinstalled the sound drivers (I have a Razer Kraken Chroma 7.1). Any ideas on this? Is it hardware? It's still a problem even when I change to regular apple headphones.
