I cannot get my music to sync to itunes or itunes match

I can't get the music that I have on my Ipod to transfer to my ITunes or ITunes Match. Only the purchased music will transfer and then when I want to transfer purchased music to my Ipod it wants to remove all the music from my Ipod. If this occurs then I'll only have the purchased music left. Any solutions?
