iPhone 5s won't make sound or charge

It was raining yesterday and I had to help out in the rain. I did get wet and my phone was in my back pocket. The phone was working fine. I could text, use the internet, nothing seemed wrong. However, I tried listening to something that my friend sent me and it said that headphones were plugged in but nothing was plugged in. I tried plugging in my headphones and they worked but as soon as I took them out I couldn't hear anything and was still in headphones mode.

I tried to charge it but it wouldn't charge. I don't remember exactly what it said but it said something similar to "Device inserted is not recognized" or something like that.

I tried this morning and nothing has changed.

(Also may I add that my device has died so I cannot charge it or anything)
