Safari for iOS

I don't know if this has been asked before, but Safari if giving me issues. It seems that most times when I'm trying to open a website I get an error to the effect: "there was a problem with the webpage and it needed to be reloaded". I also have instances where the webpage will not load. The progress bar gets about half way, but won't finish loading. I'm at the point that I'm considering switching to a different browser. Although I would need a way to make the new one the default browser, so as to bypass Safari all together. (is that possible?). If anyone else is having this same problem, is there anything that can be done to fix it?

Thanks

  • Clear our browser cache: Settings app > Safari > Clear History and Website data.
  • Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.
  • Check to see if the website or sites have a mobile version (it may be the server is not properly detecting the device making the http request).
