My download of yesemite has failed and I now have nothing on my max book pro 2011 model

I Have a MacBook Pro 2011 and was advised to update to yesemite.. After trying to do this and the outcome being, almost at completion, "your system cannot support this update" I am horrified to find I am stuck in no mans land and now seem to have nothing and unable to return to my old system!!!!
