How to get Yamaha PSR 530 to work as midi controller in GB

I have an old Yamaha PSR 530 laying around and I wanted to use it for tracks in GB. When I connect it using the midi adapter USB cable it isn't recognized by GB, but in MIDI audio setup on the laptop it shows up as USB Midi cable in the MIDI studio, the rescan and test buttons in MIDI studio also don't do anything. the green light on the MIDI adapter cable blinks when I plug in the USB and that's all.

There must be a way to use this thing, right?

See if my thread helps. You may also need to install a driver.

Thanks so much ethereality, I switched the out and in so they were opposite each other rather than out in the out etc and it works great.
