Malware problem?

When I open Safari I got a warning that there was unauthorized access to my computer and was given a telephone number to call (which I haven't done). Also, new tabs are opening with ads. Does anyone know what this is about?

Please review the options below to determine which method is best to remove the Adware installed on your computer.

The Easy, safe, effective method:

If you are comfortable doing manual file removals use the somewhat more difficult method:

1. It's a scam popup. Choose Force Quit from the Apple menu, close Safari, and then launch it with the Shift key held down. If that doesn't work, temporarily disconnect the computer from the Internet.

2. Click here and follow the instructions, or if there’s a type of adware not covered by them on the computer, these ones. If you're willing to use a tool to remove it(you don't need to, but may find it easier), you can instead run Adware Medic; this link is a direct download.
